Claims Review: uncover potential claims in the books and records.
Kenneth AI brings claims screening into director onboarding, helping insolvency teams move from gathering information to an earlier, evidence-led view of a case.
The first useful view of a case depends on getting the right information together. Directors, accountants and insolvency teams all hold part of the picture. Kenneth AI’s onboarding portal is already helping firms bring that work into one place. Claims Review adds the next step: screening the case facts and uploaded books and records for potential claims.
Director onboarding in one place
Onboarding involves more than sending a form. There are questions to answer, documents to obtain, accountants to coordinate with and paperwork to sign. When those steps are spread across email chains and separate files, it becomes harder to see what is complete and what still needs attention.
Kenneth’s portal gives directors a place to provide their information and upload records, while bringing communications, document signing and coordination with their accountants into the same workflow. Case managers can see progress across cases. Case administrators can identify outstanding information and focus their follow-ups on the next action needed, rather than reconstructing the position from a mailbox.
This is the foundation for Claims Review. The records collected during onboarding can also help the team understand where further investigation may be worthwhile.
Claims screening for SIP 2 investigations
Claims Review screens case facts and uploaded books and records to support an initial assessment of potential claims as part of the team’s SIP 2 investigation work. It builds on the existing onboarding process, making the information gathered useful for more than completing the initial paperwork. For a broader overview, read our guide to SIP 2 investigations.
The screening covers five claim types:
- Overdrawn directors’ loan accounts
- Ultra vires distributions
- Unpaid share capital
- Transactions at undervalue
- Preference payments
The case dashboard distinguishes potential claims, areas requiring further review and screens where no claim has been identified. That gives the team a practical starting point for deciding where to look next, based on the information available.
A finding you can follow back to its source
Opening a finding shows the relevant parties, an indicative value where available, the period involved and a summary at a glance. Key evidence, evidence gaps and recommended actions sit alongside numbered citations. Hovering over a citation brings the relevant source page into view, so the practitioner can examine the record behind the finding.
In the demonstration, the director-creditor balance falls while amounts owed to other creditors, including HMRC, increase. That pattern prompts a potential preference finding. That movement is a reason to examine the underlying transactions; it does not, by itself, establish a claim or a recoverable sum. The fuller review identifies missing records and questions still to resolve. The Insolvency Service’s guidance on antecedent recoveries explains the evidence needed to assess potential preferences.
The practitioner can review the evidence and accept or reject the finding. Version history records that review, keeping Kenneth’s initial assessment and the practitioner’s subsequent decision visible.
An earlier view for better conversations
These questions matter before an appointment as well as during a case. An earlier indication of possible claims can help an insolvency practitioner ask more focused questions during advisory discussions, understand which records to request and explain to a director what needs further examination.
For case managers and administrators, the benefit is continuity: the information gathered through onboarding feeds into the review, and the review points to the next information needed. The team can move from chasing a missing document to understanding why that document matters.
Where we go next
Claims Review is available both within Kenneth’s onboarding portal and as a standalone workflow. Firms can upload books and records directly for screening, without first putting a director through onboarding. This supports early advisory work as well as cases where the records have already been collected, giving practitioners an initial view of potential claims through either route.
We are pioneering the use of the latest agentic models to drive innovation in the insolvency sector, with a focus on practical workflows, traceable evidence and practitioner judgement.
